LEBANESE BREAKFAST – Wheat grain porridge (Kamhiyeh)

Kamhiyeh is a delicious and nutritious dessert usually prepared for St. Barbara’s day on the 4th of December. The name derives from its main ingredient “Ameh” meaning wheat. Kamhiyeh makes a warm and tasty dessert for winter days and its preparation is easy.

Ingredients
1 cup peeled wheat
4 tbsp. sugar
4 tbsp. orange blossom water
2 tbsp. raisins
2 tbsp. walnuts
2 tbsp. almonds

Instructions
Wash the peeled wheat thoroughly and put in a pot immersed in water, and boil for one hour till it is well cooked. Put in a serving bowl while hot, then add sugar and orange blossom water and mix very well.

Serve in five small bowls with raisins, walnuts and almonds on top as decoration

ADVICE:
You can replace peeled wheat with rolled oats, boil only till soft.
